Bequests
You can support education for your whole life and even longer – have you considered remembering St Peter’s in your Will?
A bequest is as simple as it is powerful - with a few words in your Will, you can leave a legacy at St Peter’s that will continue giving beyond your lifetime.
Your Will is probably one of the most important documents you will ever prepare and gives you the opportunity to decide where your assets and possessions will go and how they are to be used. Your Will can also be your legacy, passing on not only physical assets, but also your personal values and ideals.
With your Will, you can give the gift of education to a child and make South Africa a better place. A bequest can be made in any, or a combination, of the following forms:
- A cash amount
- A percentage of the overall value of your estate
- A gift of property (farm, house, land)
- An investment (artwork, jewellery, shares, etc.)
The Dodson Legacy
The story of our founder, Stanley Dodson, is a wonderful example of a man who left a remarkable legacy that continues to give beyond his lifetime. Stanley retired as Headmaster of St John’s Preparatory School at the required age of 60. Still passionate about teaching he set out to establish a new school. With means no greater than a teacher’s pension, a mere 20 pounds a month, this very ordinary family man with a son at university and another still four years from writing his matric, managed to gather just enough to put down the deposit to purchase property and open St Peter’s in January 1950.
On the 1st day of February 1950, 10 boys and 2 girls assembled on the lawns in front of the farmhouse for their first day of school at St Peter’s. Today, 62 years later, 611 boys and 415 girls continue to benefit from
Stanley Dodson’s vision and receive an exceptional educational experience.
Please carefully consider leaving a bequest to St Peter’s – your gift can help educate children.
