On Tuesday evening 12 September, the Foundation hosted My Father’s Coat as a fundraiser for the Isematholeni Intern programme. The St Peter’s community gathered at St Peter’s College MADDitorium to listen to Michael Charton, founder of Inherit South Africa in Cape Town, tell a story.
This story, although heard many times, was unlike other stories about our country’s history - in the way it was told.
St Peter’s Prep Schools held a Year of the Woman event on Thursday, 3 August 2017 - as a culmination of the Diversity Committee’s dedication of 2017, to women. A plaque was unveiled, in the Chapel, and blessed to mark the celebration of women’s accomplishments. An explanation of the inscription, on the plaque, was given: ‘Wathinta Abafazi, Wathintha Imbokodo’ – translated, this means, ‘You strike a woman, you strike a rock.’
The JP Boys Book Week was based on the fascinating story of “The Wizard of Oz”. The aim was to align our week with the ‘Year of the Woman’ at St Peter’s.
We started our third Flexible Learning Programme (FLP) on Tuesday and once again the boys have been fully engaged. Every time we run these programmes we are amazed at the level of thinking and questioning from the boys. Again this week, boys have opted to stay in at break to work on tasks!
