Our very first St Peter’s Family Soccer Day was held on Saturday, 15 July. Nearly 400 St Peter’s families came together to celebrate the ‘Beautiful Game’.
The children, and many grownups, were entertained and amazed by Drumkit, the beat-boxer, as well as Philani Gumede, the freestyle ball juggler. To top that off we had South African Soccer Legends: Mark Tovey, Doctor Khumalo, Andre Arendse, Shaun Bartlett and Stanton Lewis joining in the afternoon of fun!
St Peter’s girls have been offered nine Open Academic scholarships, five Cultural Scholarships (four for Music and one for Drama) and one Sports Scholarships to respected South African high schools. All of these, bar one closed scholarship to St Peter’s College, are open scholarships and accessible to pupils from all schools. We are exceptionally proud of the girls’ achievement. In most cases, these girls wrote a Maths and English scholarship exam and participated in an interview. Many school heads commended the girls on their positive attitude, diligent work ethic and individual charm and manners.
We thank all our girls who uphold the values of St Peter’s every day and contribute in a huge way to our reputation and standing in the school community. Thank you to the exceptional, industrious staff who guide all our girls in their learning and celebrate their various successes with them.
To our scholarship recipients of 2016 - may you enjoy this celebratory time with your family and friends.
We have a mantra in the Sports Department which we often ask the girls to repeat: ‘Do YOUR best!’ This motto speaks to our philosophy of ensuring that every girl becomes the very best version of herself possible.
From Grade 0 to Grade 7, our focus in every sport is very much ‘skills based’, as we are acutely aware that we are not only preparing girls for the more rigorous sporting demands in high school. We are also trying to engender a love and a passion for sport to guarantee that all the girls continue participating for as long as they are able, well into adulthood.
