Head of Junior Prep's Welcome
Our aim is for every little boy entering the Junior Prep School to feel that he is an integrated member of the St Peter’s family within a very short space of time. The Junior Prep facility meets the demands of educating for the 21st century, while creating a nurturing, happy and fun space in which to learn.
Our boys are encouraged to develop skills in all areas of their education – academic, emotional, social, sport and cultural – while maintaining their individuality and growing their own personal strengths. The ethos and values of St Peter’s underpin their learning and experiences within the classroom and school environment. The aim of our teaching is to ensure that best practice is followed and that our boys grow in collaboration, confidence and resilience.
The staff members are committed to creating a family atmosphere within the school and view themselves as the true educational partners of each child’s parent. Our belief is that we need to work together to ensure every little boy reaches his potential and fulfils his strengths. The curriculum focuses on ensuring that a strong foundation is laid, in both perceptual and early academic skills, so that the boys are ready to cope with the next phase of their learning. Lifelong learning is an integral aspect of the Junior Prep teachers' work as they keep abreast of new ideas and worldwide trends while maintaining a strong traditional base. The integration of new skills and ideas remains the focus of the curriculum, ensuring that our boys do not learn skills in isolation, but rather as a vital part of their overall education.
The Junior Prep building is colourful and fun. It provides much needed space for our boys to move freely, work in groups co-operatively and for learning using a large variety of both concrete and technical apparatus. The design is modern and fresh with many interesting and fun additions such as an indoor slide, climbing wall, open-plan media centre, a maker-space facility and modern outdoor play equipment. Both the style of the building and the atmosphere that has been created to ensure our boys find every day to be a new opportunity to fulfil our quote in the entrance foyer ... 'Oh, the places you will go!'
