Des Mahony
I qualified as a chartered accountant and worked in the financial sector, in most African countries. I also did some legal studies and am a qualified arbitrator. I got involved in the St Peter’s Community when my daughter was one of the first girls to join the Girls Prep. While my son was at the Boys Prep I was involved in uniting the parents' associations from the two schools. I joined the College Parents Association when in 2016 and was its chairperson for 2018 and 2019. In this capacity, I got involved in the Council and now serve as the Chairperson, even though I no longer have children at St Peter’s.
I worked with Kari, the Chairperson of the Trust, on a number of occasions during our time at St Peter’s had she made me aware of how the Trust seeks to make the College accessible to deserving students. I am glad to play a small role in helping make the Trust more successful and in so doing help grow beneficiaries.
I love our country, its outdoors, its diverse people and fauna and flora, and its challenges. I enjoy reading, especially history and wildlife.
