Physical Education
Sport has great educational value and not only promotes physical fitness, but also encourages teamwork and the development of self-control, co-operation, loyalty, determination and leadership. Sport at St Peter’s emphasises participation, skills development, healthy competition, fair play and good sportsmanship.
The major sports on offer are athletics, cross country, functional movement, hockey, netball, swimming and tennis.
Inter-house events are held for each sporting code and are compulsory. Inter-school fixtures take place on Thursday and Friday afternoons.
Girls are encouraged to maintain a balanced approach to sport. They practise hard, play hard and always play for enjoyment. They are made familiar with the rules of the game and accept the referee’s decision without question. Courtesy and friendliness are shown towards visiting players.
It is expected that players selected for a team be available for fixtures and take pride in representing the school at these events.
