MANDELA DAY: 'BOOK, BALL AND BISCUITS' FOR SEFIKENG SCHOOL
On Wednesday, 25 July, the St Peter’s Girls JP community brought 67 minutes of happiness and many more hours of fun and reading to the children of Sefikeng School. Over 450 packs consisting of a book, ball and biscuits were sponsored by the very generous girls and their families. This means that every child from Grade 0 - 7 received an age-appropriate book to take home. On the morning, many of the parents and girls then went to the school and interacted with the children.
The Sefikeng Headmistress and teachers were grateful for the donations – of the books in particular! They were also very appreciative of the time given by the St Peter’s children and parents who touched the lives of the Sefikeng children.
“It has been an inspiring and humbling experience to have been part of this initiative, today. We left with happy hearts. Thank you Leigh Lidgey, Carolyn Linnell, Susan Wolfenden as well as the teachers and interns - who generously gave of their time, to make this the successful initiative that it was,” said Mrs Heather Kissack (St Peter’s Girls JP Head).
