Parents Association News
Dear Parents
As Term 2 draws to a close, the parent association would like to thank you for contributing to the successful Derby Day season and the College Carnival Fun Day. Term 3 will bring back our much loved and well-supported Sport and Cultural Festival! We have not been able to host this annual event for two years, but it epitomises the St Peter’s College spirit.
The festival will begin on the afternoon of Thurs 22 Sep and continue through the entire day on Fri 23 Sep, Sat 24 Sep and Sun 25 Sep. That is just two and a half weeks after the start of term 3, so diarise it now as it will be upon us before you know it!
For those who have never had the privilege of experiencing the festival, the College invites many other schools to participate in a fantastic, fun-filled, busy weekend of various sports and cultural activities. The 2022 Festival comprises 35 schools and over 2200 students participating in activities including tennis, netball, football, chess, E-Sport, choirs, street dance, contemporary dance, drama, debating, music events (jazz, rock, marimbas, DJ, drumline, solo, steelpan, orchestra), photography, public speaking, redenaars, graffiti, pavement drawing as well as adjudicator training and an Eco-Pet exhibition. On top of all this, the Grade 9 students have their Entrepreneur’s Day stalls at the festival, where they will sell their wares. All in all, the College bustles with activities all weekend long!
The PA prepares and sells food on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, along with other food vendors to manage the large number of people who attend. It is a big event and a fantastic way to be involved (braaiing and food sales) and meet other parents at the school. The Sport and Cultural Festival is a hallmark event for the College and a fun day for all involved, parents and students. Please consider getting involved on the day – it is the best way to get a feel for the true St Peter’s College community.
We wish you a safe and enjoyable break, and we will send out more information when we all return in September.
Kind regards
Parent Association
