SHARING A LOVE OF READING DURING ‘BOOK WEEK’
The Girls School Book Week began on Monday, 18 February!
The week-long event is an annual celebration of books, written for young people and hopes to inspire a love of reading. We had a variety of activities planned - to promote the joy of reading.
CHARACTER DRESS UP- DRESS UP AS YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK CHARACTER!
The girls came to school suitably dressed. Much fun and laughter were had!
AUTHOR VISIT
We had the privilege of Elaine Macdonald, author of I See an Elephant and the Readers are Leaders series, visiting us and reading her books to the girls. She shared valuable tips on how to write stories. Vanessa Mearns (an Illustrator) taught us how to draw the elephant.
DEAR – DROP EVERYTHING AND READ
A time to just sit and enjoy reading for a while – what bliss!
‘HOOKED ON BOOKS’ – ALWAYS A FIRM FAVOURITE WITH THE PUPILS!
Actors bring this show to the School and perform in our hall. The production forms a series of snippets of stories from recently published books.
The audience is left ‘hanging’ – as the stories are incomplete!
The girls are compelled to read the story – in order to find out what happens in the end!
