St Peter’s Boys Enjoyed the Dads & Lads Morning – 16 March 2019
It was a beautiful day and the weather was perfect for a fun filled morning of cricket. The Grade 1s and their dads played in the first round of matches and thoroughly enjoyed their first taste of ‘competitive sport’. It was evident to see the excitement and nerves amongst not only the boys, but the dads as well, as they demonstrated their cricketing skills/abilities whilst being cheered on from the side by moms, grandparents, brothers and sisters. There were some eagerly contested matches and the boys and their dads seemed to really enjoy the experience.
The Grade 2s then followed and played in two matches each. While the boys were more familiar with the mini cricket format, having played matches throughout the term, there was much excitement around the thought of not only playing in a match with their dads but also seeing their dads demonstrate their own cricketing skills. While the competition was fierce, the matches were played in a fantastic spirit, fitting to the gentleman’s game. It was a wonderful family day out and I look forward to next year’s event.
