St Peter's Boys Prep School Flexible Learning Programme July 2016
This past week, St Peter's Boys Prep held its second Flexible Learning Programme (FLP) of the year. The boys had great fun, as did the teachers and so much was learnt in this very special week.
The Grade 3s focussed on a Maths Funfair. All the tasks were hands-on: creating, building, measuring, baking and problem solving. The BIG QUESTION: "How do we use Maths everday" .
The Grade 4s worked on various forms of transport and how they actually work.
The Grade 5s created a city in each class. They had to measure to scale and create 3D models of, for example, a fire station, SPCA, taxi rank, shopiing mall, hospital, school, petrol station.
The Grade 6s researched the Olympics. THE THEME: Olympism is a philosophy of life, exalting and combining in a balanced whole the qualities of body, will and mind. Blending sport with culture and education, Olympism seeks to create a way of life based on the joy found in effort, the educational value of good example and respect for universal fundamental ethical principles.
The Grade 7s were given the opportunity to prepare a research proposal on any topic of their choice and criteria for their assessment was set.
On Wednesday this week the boys were all given an opportunity to present to teachers, parents and other boys.
Another successful FLP was enjoyed by all!
