St Peter's College Easter message from the College Chaplain

The season of Easter is upon us yet again dear Friends and as a Christian School we continue to reflect on the words of Christ, when He spoke to his disciples before his death on the Cross when He said “Do this in remembrance of me” – Luke 22:19. It is through these few words that made the disciples realise that the time of death that Jesus was talking, is indeed here and that the hour has come.

 

As a Christian community here at St Peter’s College we have indeed observed in deep reflections and prayer, the period of Lent and now, we are ushered into the Holy Week which will commence on Palm Sunday as the Lord makes His triumphal entry, riding a donkey into Jerusalem. Friends, Easter time is not only a time for the family to meet in the name of good company or fellowship or some catching up and enjoying some good food; but Easter time it is also a time of New-Life. It is a time to give thanks to God for loving us so much that He gave us His only begotten Son to be a sacrificial Lamb on our behalf -John 3:16

 

This is a very special time of the year, where we realise that Christ died for all, regardless of what we think of ourselves; of our unworthiness; of our countless sins or flaws. Jesus died for you and me, that is the crux of what happened on the Cross and His blood showered us all equally. Therefore, it is my prayer that as we close for the Easter break, that we really reflect on what Easter means to us as individuals, that we give thanks to God for loving us. Scripture tells us that we love because, He first loved us; in other words, even before we could spell the word “LOVE” and know how to love, God first loved us – 1 John 4:19

Allow me to wish you and your families a very reflective and blessed time of Easter. May you be filled with the Holy Spirit, inner-peace and joy.

JESUS NOT ONLY DIED, BUT HE ROSE AGAIN!!! HAPPY EASTER!!!
