St Peter's College: Let’s Get IT 2021
With the start of school this year being forced online as a result of the Second Wave being experienced across the country, the St Peter’s College IT Team has been hard at work making sure that we leave no student behind. The major goals for January were:
- Orientating all new students on our Office 365 platform where our digital delivery tools sit. Microsoft Teams has become a fundamental part of the delivery of our curricula and the continuous development coming out of the Office 365 suite is enabling teachers to build exciting and engaging online lessons.
- Training staff to meet the blended learning requirements and ensure that all departments were equipped to meet the needs of their subjects and students.
A vigorous staff development programme was embarked on in the weeks leading up to the start of school on Monday, 18 January 2021, and our staff has jumped at the opportunity to explore new and exciting ways of teaching our students.
All of the Grade 8 and new students received orientation on the school's IT systems. This included logging onto the internet, accessing Teams, and joining online classrooms. The successful completion of these goals has set the platform for us to begin our application to becoming a Micorosft Showcase School this year.
The IT and PBL teams have spent the remainder of the month collaborating as we look to introduce fundamental skill development to this programme. This space allows the College to ensure that none of our junior students have been left behind as we have kicked off the 2021 year and that we are developing students with computer literacy skills they will require to be effective digital students in these challenging times.
