ST PETER’S GIRLS PREP PUPIL WINS BRONZE AT THE ESKOM INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE FAIR
Almaaz Mudaly flew the St Peter’s Girls Prep School flag high recently when she participated in the International Science Fair in October. She won a bronze medal in the innovation and technology category.
Almaaz, a Grade 6 pupil, was one of the youngest students at the Science Fair. She competed against pupils up to Grade 12. Almaaz was selected for the Science Fair, having submitted work of an exceptional standard.
She competed against approximately 700 international pupils from countries including Mexico, Ghana, Namibia, Kenya and many more. She represented ‘Team Jozi’!
Almaaz’s project was to build the ‘Ultimate Cooler Lunch Box’. Her project required many prototypes, using engineering and scientific methods and ensuring her project adhered to very specific engineering goals and design principles. She also designed a template, which is easy to build at home, thereby making her ‘Ultimate Cooler Lunch Box’ available to children from all socio-economic backgrounds. Her amazing efforts were rewarded with the bronze medal in her category at this international level.
This augurs well for Almaaz’s future in scientific design – hearty congratulations!
