ST PETER’S GIRLS PREP SCHOOL’S MUSICAL SHOWCASE
St Peter’s Girls Prep Music Department held its popular Musical Showcase recently. This was a magical evening for the performers and audience alike, as they shared the love of music, which embodies the spirit in this department of the School.
The Musical Showcase is a platform where the pupils have the opportunity to perform and thereby show off the musical skills that they have learnt through the year. They are encouraged to be creative and independent - the girls made the most of this occasion. The focus of the Showcase was on composition and arrangement.
The audience was impressed by the original, confident performances, which were composed and arranged independently of the teachers’ help. A range of talents were showcased that delighted the audience.
The orchestra opened the evening with a phenomenal rendition of ‘Township Time’ and Grade 7 pupil Sydney Thokoane sang a song that she had composed herself. There were both individual and group performances - a violin trio, a rock group and the iPad band, to name a few.
Finally, the Marimba bands brought the evening to a vibrant close with a fun-filled performance, which had the audience on their feet!
A most entertaining evening - highlighting just one of the many offerings at St Peter’s Girls Prep School.
