St Peter's Prep Schools Easter Message
I greet you all in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
As I write this Easter Message, I pray that it will be a great pondering challenge for you and your families as you spend this time together. As we re-enact the passion of Christ this Easter, I pray that will be born anew in his death and resurrection. The triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem and the people hailed him: hosanna to the king, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. May we be aware that Jesus still wants the triumphant entry into our lives, he still awaits for us to hail him as the blessed one who comes in the name of the Lord. Revelations 3:20 “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me”. Jesus the Christ wants us each day to accept his invitation of mercy, peace, joy and love that these may reign in our lives each and every day, knowing that his faithfulness is great and it is full of new mercies each and every morning.
So what are we to do as we continue in this journey? Are we going to allow Jesus to wash our feet and cleanse us from all the wicked ways we have travelled in the past? Are we going to share in an agape meal with him and only to betray him later just like Judas did, perhaps you wondering how would I betray Jesus in the world today? Well we betray Jesus in many ways, when we gossip about others or spread rumors about them, when we betray our brothers and sisters and are not honourable in our actions. When Jesus said in John 21:15 “feed my lamb” and today we pass people that are not only physically hungry but also spiritually hungry for the word of God. When we fail just like the rich young ruler to sell our earthly possessions (by earthy possessions I mean our egos, our pride, our individualistic concept of satisfying the self) and follow Jesus. When we follow Jesus and truly follow Jesus, all he calls us to do is LOVE. To love the Lord your God and Love the other. When you love betrayal is not an option, self-interest is not an option. The only option is I love therefore I exist with others around me. May we go out into world as disciples of Jesus the Christ who washes our feet into the way of peace and who shared his agape meal (the meal of love) so that we too may display his love into the world.
