Youth Day celebration
The celebration of Youth Day on 16 June provides a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the events leading up to the liberation of South Africa, from the apartheid regime to the role played by the youth in this landmark event in South African history. St Peter's pupils were given an explanation of the significance of the Soweto Uprising, which helped laying the grounds for the release of Nelson Mandela and the end of the apartheid system.
To mark this occasion, the St Peter's Girls School staff members prepared a dance to some of the music from the musical Sarafina! The staff came to school dressed as pupils in school uniforms and the girls thoroughly enjoyed the performance.
