Academics

At St Peter’s Prep, we develop well-rounded children who are academically prepared, emotionally intelligent and socially responsible. Through innovative teaching, personalised support and strong values, we equip them with the skills and confidence to thrive.

Our commitment to holistic education ensures every pupil leaves St Peter’s with a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Teaching and Learning Approach

We incorporate modern pedagogies such as:

  • Growth Mindset & Positive Psychology (Prof Carol Dweck & Prof Martin Seligman)
  • Thinking Tools & Cognitive Education (Edward de Bono)
  • Inquiry-Based Learning (John Dewey)

This approach ensures engagement, deeper understanding, and personalised learning.

Academic Support and Inclusion

We recognise that every child learns differently and strive to provide tailored support for pupils with unique educational needs.

The ‘Middle Room’ environment in Grades 1 to 5 is a smaller class setting, for certain subjects during the day, designed for pupils who need more consolidation and support. Children can benefit from the Middle Room support as and when required. This allows for personalised instruction and ensures that all pupils can progress at a pace suited to their learning needs.

Beyond Academics – Whole Child Development

At St Peter’s, we believe that emotional, social and ethical growth is just as important as academic success. Character education is our main focus. Our pastoral care system includes Housemasters and Housemistresses, ensuring every pupil feels supported and guided throughout their school journey.

As an Anglican faith-based school, we integrate:

  • Social Justice lessons, known as Izenzo Zobuntu, to develop awareness and empathy.
  • Divinity lessons to foster moral and ethical understanding.
  • Positive Education programmes that build resilience, emotional intelligence and wellbeing.
