Ensuring Trust

The role of the St Peter’s Prep Foundation is to raise the money required, and manage the funds, for the Social Responsibility programmes of St Peter’s Prep Schools. The programmes are 100% dependent on external funding, and your contribution delivers a meaningful impact where it is needed most.

Meet the team

The St Peter’s Foundation is run as a Trust managed by an independent Board of Trustees.

The St Peter’s Foundation team is divided into a Foundation office, and the Board of Trustees. The Foundation office is responsible for raising funds and for the day-to-day running of the Foundation’s activities. The Trustees ensure the Foundation vision is aligned to the schools’ strategic vision. They oversee financial stewardship and risk management, ensure accountability and legal compliance. By monitoring performance and impact, they ensure that the projects achieve the intended outcome of serving our communities.

Donations to the Foundation entitle donors to a Section 18A tax certificate and can confirm BBEE SED status. Funds donated to the Foundation go directly to the donor specified programmes. All donations are invested in the programmes, with the school funding the administrative costs.

Monica Sloane: Head of the Peter’s Foundation

Monica is a qualified microbiologist who spent several years in the food industry. After marrying an educator she moved into the education field in various capacities. Monica believes that as human beings we all co-exist and it is our responsibility to serve each other. It is this belief that led her to heading up the St Peter’s Foundation.

Peter Hayward-Butt

Pete has a BSc (Agric Econ) and BSc (Dev Econ). He was the assistant director of corporate finance at Barings Brothers in the UK from 1996 to 1999 before moving to ABN Amro in Hong Kong as the head of mergers and acquisitions advisory for Asia. in 2004, he returned to South Africa as joint head of investment banking – a position he occupied from January 2004 until the beginning of 2015.

The St Peter’s Foundation operates as a Trust, managed by an independent Board of Trustees.

The Foundation team comprises a Foundation Office and a Board of Trustees. The Foundation Office is responsible for raising funds and for the day-to-day running of the Foundation’s activities. The Trustees ensure the Foundation’s vision is aligned to the School’s strategic vision, overseeing financial stewardship and risk management, and ensuring accountability and legal compliance.

Donations to the Foundation entitle donors to a Section 18A tax certificate and may qualify for B-BBEE Socio-Economic Development (SED) recognition. Funds donated to the Foundation go directly to donor-specified programmes, with all donations invested in those programmes and the School funding the administrative costs.

Rene Levinge-Lang

Rene is the Head of the Intern Programme at St Peter’s, a role she started in 2022. She brings extensive experience from the University of Johannesburg’s Faculty of Education, where she worked in lecturing, curriculum development, and the mentoring of student teachers. With a background in education and human resources, Rene has a strong understanding of the needs of aspiring teachers. She holds a master’s degree in education and is currently pursuing a doctorate, and is committed to growing the internship programme to positively impact the lives of future educators.
