Rob Macaulay

Rector: St Peter’s Prep

Rob joined the St Peter’s family in 2013 as Headmaster of the Boys Prep. In an educational career that spans four decades, his focus has been on values-driven education, curriculum innovation and faith-based leadership.

Rob began his academic journey at the University of the Witwatersrand, earning a Bachelor of Primary Education, followed by a BEd in Educational Management from UNISA. He later completed a Master of Education in Curriculum Development with a focus on IT.  His commitment to continuous professional development saw him complete the Heads of School Leadership Programme at WITS Business School, and he earned a Bachelor of Theology in 2022, the same year he was ordained as an Anglican priest.

Rob believes in a collaborative approach to education and uses the analogy of a three-legged pot to describe the symbiotic relationship between parent, child and school in providing an educational environment, which is influenced as much by modelling as it is by intentional educational programmes.  Rob promotes servant leadership, which he describes as the creation of the optimal environment for growth for those who are being led, as the leadership style best suited to a school setting, both by the teacher in the classroom and as the basis for a positive employee working environment.

In 2022, Rob was appointed Rector of St Peter’s Prep Schools, overseeing the Boys, Girls, and Pre-Prep schools. His role encompasses faith and ethos development, curriculum alignment, and executive oversight of financial and operational sustainability. He also serves in a non-stipendiary capacity as Assistant Priest at St Mark’s Parish in Northriding, Chair of the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa (ISASA) Central Region Committee, and member of the ISASA National Council.

Darrel Webb

Head: Girls Prep

Darrel has been Headmaster of St Peter’s Girls Prep for the past 10 years. He has been teaching for over 30 years and started his career at Stithians Boys College, moved to St David’s as Deputy Head and then to Dainfern College Prep as Headmaster. He is married to Jo, and they have two children, both of whom went to St Peter’s Prep and College. His daughter was one of the founding pupils of the Girls Prep.

Darrel has a passion for education and truly believes in developing habits in children that will prepare them for high school and, more importantly, life thereafter. Darrel feels our focus should be on the journey of life, rather than putting pressure on children to achieve ‘end results’, and that having fun and what our children do and say every day is what truly matters.

He loves his family, working in his garden, woodwork and working on his ‘Mr Bean Mini’, which he drives to school when it is working.

Leigh Lidgey

Head: Girls Junior Prep

Leigh Lidgey has been part of the St Peter’s Family for fourteen years, first as a parent and then as both a parent and staff member. She is deeply passionate about St Peter’s and about early childhood education. Her experience teaching from Grade 000 to Grade 2 has given her a strong understanding of the developmental milestones that shape young children’s learning, and has affirmed her belief that the Foundation Phase is a vital time where confidence grows, and curiosity is encouraged.

Leigh is committed to creating learning spaces that nurture confidence and joy, where every little girl feels seen, supported and eager to learn. She believes in experiential and inquiry-based learning that supports each child at her own pace and builds on her strengths and interests. Academic inclusion lies at the centre of her work, and she believes strongly in meeting every girl exactly where she is on her learning journey.

Her relationship with St Peter’s is personal, with both of her daughters having journeyed through the school from Grade 0 to Grade 12. Values-based education guides Leigh’s daily decisions and interactions, and she holds kindness and resilience as the values she lives by most. She often reminds the girls, ‘In a world where you can be anything, be kind.’

Leigh is dedicated to ensuring that the Junior Prep remains a joyful, inclusive place where girls can explore, imagine and grow with confidence.
