Brian Armitage

Executive Head

Brian Armitage is an experienced educational leader with a deep understanding of, and unwavering commitment to, the values and holistic educational philosophy of St Peter’s College. With more than 29 years in education, he brings extensive experience in teaching, pastoral care, curriculum leadership, and school management to his role as Executive Head.

Having served the College in several leadership positions, including Head of Department, Grade Head, Head of Co-Curricular and Deputy Headmaster: Student Affairs, Brian has developed a comprehensive understanding of every aspect of school life. His leadership is characterised by a genuine commitment to building meaningful relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider school community.

Brian believes that exceptional education extends beyond academic achievement. Guided by the College’s core values of Relationships, Respect, Responsibility and Resilience, he is passionate about nurturing young people of character who are equipped to lead with integrity, embrace challenges with confidence and make a positive contribution to society. His leadership places equal emphasis on academic excellence, student well-being, co-curricular participation and personal growth.

As Executive Head, Brian is committed to strengthening St Peter’s College’s tradition of excellence while leading the school with vision, purpose and innovation. He is dedicated to fostering a culture where every student is known, supported and inspired to realise their full potential in an environment that values curiosity, compassion and lifelong learning.

Ryan Hammond

Deputy: Student Affairs

Ryan Hammond is an accomplished educator with 16 years of experience and a strong foundation in both subject matter expertise and pedagogical practices. Since 2015, Ryan has been an integral part of St Peter’s College. He has served as a Grade Head and Head of Department: Social Sciences during his tenure, demonstrating leadership, fostering collaboration among colleagues and championing academic growth.

Ryan firmly believes in the holistic development of students, aligning with St Peter’s College’s commitment to being “Ahead of the Game, Behind Every Child.” With a deep respect for the institution’s history of excellence, Ryan aims to uphold the high standards of education on offer at the College and the legacy of innovative approaches to education and the development of 21st-century skills. Together with a qualified, passionate and dedicated Head of Department team and academic staff, he encourages students to work to achieve their best, be agents of change and develop a love for learning.

St Peter’s College boasts a 100% pass rate, with more than 90% of students attaining Bachelor’s Degree passes. The College takes pride in its top achievers who attain eight or more distinctions and place in the IEB Top 1% across various subjects – and is equally proud of students who have faced challenges and achieved their personal best. St Peter’s graduates go on to achieve remarkable things both locally and internationally. Continuing this proud legacy is at the heart of everything Ryan does.

Ritesh Hariram

Deputy: Co-curricular & Campus Development

Ritesh Hariram has 28 years of experience in education and a strong passion for Technical Education. He teaches Engineering Graphics and Design at St Peter’s College and has also taught Technology during his tenure. Ritesh began his academic journey in Engineering before transitioning into education, bringing a unique blend of technical expertise and teaching experience to the classroom. In addition to his academic role, he has served as Master in Charge of Football for eight years, demonstrating his commitment to developing young athletes. Since 2018, Ritesh has held the position of Grade Head, focusing on pastoral care and the holistic development of students. His extensive experience and dedication make him an integral part of the College community.

David Vermeulen

Head of Finance and Support Services

School education has always been part of David’s DNA. Growing up in a family of dedicated educators – his father a lifelong Science teacher and Headmaster of a prominent state school in Johannesburg, and his mother a passionate Maths teacher – he developed a deep appreciation for the impact schools have on young people and their communities from an early age. This early foundation shaped his values, even as his professional journey initially took him into finance. David qualified as a Chartered Accountant at Deloitte before beginning his career in investment banking in the UK and South Africa. He later became a partner in a medium-sized financial services practice in Johannesburg, advising a wide range of professional clients and their businesses. His passion for education ultimately led him back to the sector, where he spent 12 years as Head of Finance and Operations at St John’s College. He joined St Peter’s College in January 2026, bringing a blend of strategic financial expertise, operational leadership and a lifelong commitment to the transformative role of schools.

Passionate and energetic, David believes deeply in the power of quality education. He places strong value on the human element in leadership, cultivating meaningful relationships with colleagues, parents and the broader community. He seeks to combine strategic clarity with empathy, ensuring that people feel seen, supported and empowered to achieve their best.

Abi Greeff

Deputy: Student Affairs

Abi Greeff is an accomplished and dedicated teacher who brings extensive experience and a deep commitment to student wellbeing to her role as Deputy: Student Affairs.

Since joining the College in 2018, Abi has held the positions of Assistant Grade Head and Grade Head, developing a robust foundation in pastoral care and student management. Her years of experience in this sphere have equipped her with the sensitivity, insight and leadership required to support students as they navigate their personal journeys.

Abi’s pedagogy is rooted in the College’s core values of Relationships, Respect, Resilience and Responsibility. She is committed to fostering caring, supportive and nurturing relationships with students and families, ensuring that every student feels seen, valued and supported. She places a strong emphasis on personal development and mental health, advocating for practices and programmes that promote emotional resilience and holistic growth.

A qualified Life Sciences teacher, holding a BSc: Genetics and Physiology degree, Abi has served in several national assessment roles, including IEB Senior Marker, IEB ABET Examiner and National PAT Moderator. Her expertise reflects both subject mastery and a strong understanding of academic standards within the independent education sector.

Under her leadership, the College continues to offer a range of opportunities that empower students to grow through leadership, service and co-curricular engagement. Abi is passionate about ensuring that all students matriculate as well-rounded, mindful and confident young people who embody the ethos of the College.

Lebone Mandlazi

HR Manager

Lebone Mandlazi joined St Peter’s College in March 2026 as HR Manager, bringing a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management and a strong commitment to building a thriving, high-performing school community. Her work is centred on attracting, developing and retaining exceptional staff who will inspire and shape the lives of students.

Lebone is passionate about creating an environment in which staff feel supported, valued and motivated to grow professionally. She believes that a strong and engaged staff body is the foundation of a vibrant school culture, and is committed to fostering collaboration, respect and continuous professional development across the College.

Her approach aligns with St Peter’s College’s ethos of developing young people in body, mind and character. By ensuring that staff are empowered to perform at their best, Lebone contributes to a culture where excellence is recognised, and where educators can focus on what matters most: nurturing well-rounded, capable and confident students.
