Building on this foundation, Grade 11 students participate in a dedicated annual Outreach Project, working collaboratively with local organisations and communities on initiatives that seek to create a lasting and meaningful impact.

These projects provide students with opportunities to engage in practical, hands-on service. Initiatives have included establishing vegetable gardens to support community soup kitchens, painting classrooms and community facilities, laying paving, improving outdoor spaces, supporting infrastructure projects and contributing to initiatives that promote long-term sustainability.

One example is the ongoing partnership with Elizabeth Paul Anglican Church in Cosmo City, where St Peter’s College students and staff have contributed to the development and upkeep of community facilities. Work has included establishing a vegetable garden that supports the local soup kitchen, painting palisade fencing, laying paving and preparing a foundation for a water tank and pump, as well as assisting with signage and improvements to shared spaces.

Through these experiences, students witness the tangible impact of service while developing valuable leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills. More importantly, they gain a deeper understanding of compassionate citizenship and the responsibility that comes with being an active member of a wider community.

By encouraging students to engage meaningfully with the communities around them, St Peter’s College seeks to nurture young people who not only excel academically, but who also recognise their responsibility to contribute positively to the lives of others.
