Physical Education

At St Peter’s Girls Prep, we believe physical education has a significant impact on the learning process and is a vital part of preparing girls for high school and life beyond school. At St Peter’s, physical education is about far more than playing sport. It encompasses personal development, physical fitness, movement skills, co-ordination and core strength – developed through activities like balancing, dancing, jumping, throwing and catching.

Sport is an opportunity to put those skills to the test in the form of a game – and to learn some of life’s most important lessons along the way. Collaboration, resilience, sportsmanship and character are just some of the values our girls develop through sport. To ensure every pupil experiences these lessons, physical education and sport are compulsory from Grade 0 through to Grade 7.

In the Junior Prep (Grades 0 – 2), we follow a scaffolded process of developing fundamental movement and sport skills, preparing girls for their competitive sports journey that begins in Grade 3.
