Girls Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging

DIVERSITY, INCLUSION & BELONGING

With a firm grounding in our Anglican faith, everything we do at St Peter’s Prep Schools focuses on promoting a sense of inclusion and belonging for all. We are committed to creating a learning community where every child, parent and staff member – regardless of race, culture, gender, religion, neurodiversity, ability or background – feels seen, valued and empowered to thrive. Our comprehensive Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (DIB) strategy ensures that difference is actively celebrated as a strength that enriches our entire school family.

Our Commitment to Inclusion

Inclusion means recognising and embracing the full spectrum of human diversity – every voice is heard, and every story matters. We strive to create safe spaces where everyone belongs. Through our Izenzo Zobuntu programme, we embed these values into our curriculum from Grade 1 through to Grade 7, using literature, storytelling and targeted programmes to build empathy, understanding and global citizenship.

Beyond the Classroom

We celebrate heritage through meaningful school events and provide ongoing staff training that promotes inclusive practices. Diverse perspectives are actively showcased across all our communications.

Our Framework

Underpinning our work is a comprehensive ‘Statement of Belonging’ and an Anti-Discrimination Policy that embeds inclusion in every aspect of School life. We invite you to read our full Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Framework and Anti-Discrimination Policy to discover how we are building a community where everyone truly belongs.

Employment Equity

St Peter’s Prep Schools is actively engaged in a process of transformation that addresses historical employment inequities. Our five-year Employment Equity Plan has been accepted by the Department of Labour, and we are already in a position where the demographics of both teachers and support staff are culturally equitable to our pupil enrolment. We remain committed to addressing any remaining aspects of inequity through strategic employment and targeted succession planning.
