Rob Macaulay
Rector: St Peter’s Prep
Rob joined the St Peter’s family in 2013 as Headmaster of the Boys Prep. In an educational career that spans four decades, his focus has been on values-driven education, curriculum innovation and faith-based leadership.
Rob began his academic journey at the University of the Witwatersrand, earning a Bachelor of Primary Education, followed by a BEd in Educational Management from UNISA. He later completed a Master of Education in Curriculum Development with a focus on IT. His commitment to continuous professional development saw him complete the Heads of School Leadership Programme at WITS Business School, and he earned a Bachelor of Theology in 2022, the same year he was ordained as an Anglican priest.
Rob believes in a collaborative approach to education and uses the analogy of a three-legged pot to describe the symbiotic relationship between parent, child and school in providing an educational environment, which is influenced as much by modelling as it is by intentional educational programmes. Rob promotes servant leadership, which he describes as the creation of the optimal environment for growth for those who are being led, as the leadership style best suited to a school setting, both by the teacher in the classroom and as the basis for a positive employee working environment.
In 2022, Rob was appointed Rector of St Peter’s Prep Schools, overseeing the Boys, Girls, and Pre-Prep schools. His role encompasses faith and ethos development, curriculum alignment, and executive oversight of financial and operational sustainability. He also serves in a non-stipendiary capacity as Assistant Priest at St Mark’s Parish in Northriding, Chair of the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa (ISASA) Central Region Committee, and member of the ISASA National Council.
Kirsty Boltman
Head of the Pre-Prep
With over two decades of experience in education, Kirsty Boltman has dedicated her career to nurturing curiosity, creativity and confidence in young children. Kirsty has been part of the Pre-Prep since its doors opened in 2020 – first as a teacher and now as Head and has played an integral role in shaping a learning environment that celebrates discovery and belonging, where every child feels truly included.
Passionate about learning through play and inquiry, Kirsty believes that the best classrooms are those filled with questions and a spirit of exploration. Her approach centres on the idea that children learn best when they feel safe and valued – and that every child deserves a place where they can thrive.
Kirsty lives by the values of the school, bringing them into every aspect of teaching and learning. She champions an atmosphere where respect and empathy are at the heart of daily practice, and where collaboration comes naturally.
Deeply committed to the Early Childhood Development space, Kirsty believes that the preschool years are among the most significant in a child’s educational journey. She is passionate about building strong, foundational experiences that set children up for lifelong learning.
As both an educator and a proud parent of two St Peter’s children, Kirsty brings a deeply personal understanding of the school’s culture and community – one that continues to inspire her to help every child feel that they belong.
